I really like this task and I plan on using it a lot in the future. By being able to create my own newspapers, I will able to communicate with parents upcoming events, what the children are learning, etc. I think I would also allow parents to put little "ads" in the newsletter as long as they didn't overpower the educational messages. As a teacher, I would like to emphasize the importance of community and collaboration. The newsletter would inform parents of what is going on in the school environment. I don't think parents should only be contacted when there is a negative issue (i.e. the child is in trouble) and this, combined with positive calls home, would be a way to bring the school and families closer together.
